Custom Window Treatments

Your room is almost there, it just needs that finishing layer. I'll design custom window treatments for your space, working with you to choose fabrics, trims, header styles, and the right length for your ceilings. I handle measuring, ordering, local workroom fabrication, and installation. The end result is something you'll never find off the rack.

Custom Upholstery & Pillows

A statement piece built to last a lifetime. I'll work with you to design custom upholstered furniture, choosing the right silhouette, seat depth, cushion type, fabric, trim, and details like skirts or slipcovers. Add coordinating custom pillows to pull the room together. This is for the person whose space is mostly there but wants one beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece to finish it off.

What Led Me to Design

I studied at the University of Virginia and spent the first chapter of my career as a nurse in the pediatric ICU and operating room. I still bring the same precision and care I practiced in nursing to every project, but now enjoy caring for people in more of a creative way rather than clinical.

My passion for design began when my husband and I purchased our first home together, a 1920s Richmond home that was in need of some major TLC. We gutted it down to the studs, learning and problem solving as we went. I enjoyed the challenge and creativity involved in making that forgotten space feel like home, and went on to earn my Professional Certificate in Interior Decorating from the University of Richmond. My capstone project was honored with the 2026 IFDA Richmond Capstone Award from the Richmond chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association, recognizing the most creative, well-executed student design of the year.

Designing for Every Family

I love helping families create spaces where everyone can move, play, and live comfortably, without giving up an ounce of style. I know what it feels like when your home isn't working for your family. I lived it with my daughter, and that experience is at the heart of everything I design.

When I'm not designing, you'll find me hand-painting custom party banners, making things with my two kids, or cheering on the Hoos with my husband. Color, pattern, and a little sparkle make their way into everything I do.

Working With Me

My style leans layered, colorful, and collected, but every home I design starts with you.

Your Time, Back

You won't spend your weekends scrolling furniture sites or chasing down a back-ordered rug. I handle the sourcing, the logistics, and the follow-through, so your only job is the fun part: picking your favorites.

Built to Last

I source pieces you'll love for years to come. Investing in quality once always beats buying and replacing the cheap version, and it's a more sustainable way to furnish a home.

No Guesswork

You'll see every decision before we make it, through detailed floor plans, mood boards, and 3D renderings. Nothing goes into your home until you love it, so you can invest with confidence and skip the costly do-overs.

A White-Glove Experience

This is a highly personalized experience from start to finish. I treat every client like family, and you stay in control of every decision along the way. The goal is a home you love that truly feels like you.

Your Questions, Answered

A few of the things Richmond homeowners ask me most.

How much does an interior designer cost in Richmond, VA?

My pricing depends on the scope of the project. For smaller scopes, including a single-day color and materials consultation, I work hourly. For full-service design projects, I use design fees scaled to the size of the project. When you reach out, I'll walk you through which option fits your project and send you a clear estimate before any work begins.

What areas around Richmond do you serve?

I'm based in Midlothian and work throughout the greater Richmond area, including Short Pump, Glen Allen, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Ashland, Mechanicsville, and Powhatan. I know the Robious corridor and surrounding Midlothian neighborhoods especially well. If your home is within about 45 minutes of Richmond, I can almost certainly help.

What services do you offer?

Four core services: full-service interior design (concept through install), color and materials consultation, custom window treatments, and custom upholstery and pillows. Full-service is best when you want someone to run the project end-to-end; the consultation options are for homeowners who want expert direction on specific decisions.

How long does a typical interior design project take?

It depends on the scope and on current lead times for furniture, custom pieces, and trades, which can shift from season to season. Smaller design scopes often wrap up in a few weeks. Full-service rooms and whole-home projects take longer. I'll give you an estimated timeline before we start so you know what to expect.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

It comes down to scope and licensing. A licensed interior designer can alter the structure of a space, pull construction permits, act as a contractor, and produce structural CAD drawings and blueprints. As an interior decorator, I focus on the surfaces, finishes, layout, furnishings, and decoration of a room, everything that shapes how a space looks, feels, and functions day to day.

Do you work with a particular style, or do you adapt to the client?

Both. I lean toward warm, layered interiors with character and heart, where pattern and color earn their place. I love rooms that feel collected rather than staged. But every project starts with the family who lives there. Your home should feel like you.

Do you handle the contractors and tradespeople, or just the design?

On full-service projects, I coordinate closely with the painters, installers, window treatment workrooms, upholsterers, and trades a project requires. I'm not a general contractor, so in most cases you'll contract with and pay those trades directly, but I handle the design-side logistics: defining scope, scheduling, building realistic timelines, and making sure everyone has the information they need to do their part well. For smaller scopes like a color consultation, I hand you a clear set of specs you can take to your own contractor.

I live in an older Richmond home. Can you design around historic details?

Yes, and I love it. My husband and I gut-renovated a 1920s Richmond home ourselves, so the quirks of older houses, like plaster walls, transom doors, narrow staircases, and non-square rooms, are familiar territory. Good design for an older home respects what's already there and adds to the story rather than flattening it.

What should I have ready before our first meeting?

A rough sense of the spaces you want to address, a ballpark budget range (even "somewhere between $X and $Y"), your timeline, and a few inspiration images you love. Pinterest boards, magazine pages, or screenshots are all fine. Ahead of our first meeting I'll also send you a short questionnaire so I can get to know your family, how you use your space day to day, what's working, what isn't, and the styles and details you're drawn to. You don't need to have it all figured out. That's my job.

What qualifications do you have?

I hold a Professional Certificate in Interior Decorating from the University of Richmond, and my capstone project was honored with the 2026 IFDA Richmond Capstone Award from the Richmond chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Virginia. Before design, I worked as a pediatric ICU and operating room nurse. That background shaped the way I approach design today: with precision, calm under pressure, and a deep attentiveness to how a space affects the people living in it.

Do you design for clients with accessibility needs?

Yes, and it's close to my heart. My daughter uses a wheelchair, and adapting our own home so it truly works for her has been one of the most meaningful projects of my life. Small changes to doorways, clearances, flooring, bathroom layouts, and finishes can make an enormous day-to-day difference for a family. If your home needs to work differently for you or someone you love, I would be honored to help you design a space that meets your needs without sacrificing style.
